Michael Barnes
Michael Barnes, Head Pilot at Rotorwing Helicopters, flew day and night, delivering rescues, relief, and cattle feed during teh 2022 flood in the Northern Rivers.
With his wife Jess and hundreds of volunteers coordinating survival efforts, they showed true Aussie mateship. When disaster struck, they rose above, ensuring help reached those who needed it most.

Caz Goulding was joined with Mish Canning, co-chiefs at the M1 Boatramp in Broadwater, led a military-style search and rescue mission, saving countless lives and ensuring every first responder made it home. During the 2022 Lismore floods, Michelle Bryant stepped up guided by her love for animals. While homes and lives hung in the balance, she focused on the creatures left behind. Washed Away shows her turning empathy into action, rallying supplies, offering refuge, and rescuing stranded animals. Her unwavering dedication became a beacon, reminding us that even in disaster, compassion leads the way.
Cass & Luke
Luke O’Driscoll and Cass Petty know first hand how tough recovery can be without the help they were promised. The $790M in Resilient Homes Grants never showed up, leaving them to rely on Luke’s hard-earned savings from his time serving in Afghanistan, along with the generosity of local charities. Their story highlights how, even when the system fails, neighbours and mates can still make all the difference.

Lucy is from Lismore. She was stuck on her roof that was slimy she said "I really did see the water as coming to kill me, because if I slipped and fell in tat 6 meter toxic water, I wouldn't have survived"
My neighbour yelled out 'Lucy don't forget me' she said it was very awkward when a man in a 2 person kayak came to rescue her. But, he went back and got him too.
